Why do we work?

This talk really described the way I think but I didn’t know it until I listened. I love being told something about myself and my thinking to have it completely resonate in me: Did this surprise and resonate with you? Tell me about it in the comments.

What Has Your Attention? And How Does That Hurt You?

What are you paying attention to? Why are you paying attention to that? Who told you to do that? How much do you trust them? Do you miss anything by following their advice? Now, after watching that video. . . make sure to stop before the bike part and apply it to your life and thinking. . . Do you miss anything by following their advice. I like to think I’m really good at paying attention. My wife even asks me sometimes how I keep track of so many details. So, when I saw this video at church recently it raised by awareness that my paradigm probably isn’t as open minded as I think it is because of what I choose to pay attention to. I can do better and always try to seek first to understand and Stephen Covey put it. Have a great...

Using the Miracle Morning to Jump Start My Day

I’ve been using the Miracle Morning (affiliate link) for 23 days now and It is sort of amazing. I’ve been starting my day at 4:00 a.m. and going through the Life S.A.V.E.R.S. for an hour or an hour and a half. It has given my day and my mind a Jump Start. How Do You Pray and Promote Your Business

16“O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. 17Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and listen to all the words of Sennacherib, who sent them to reproach the living God. 18Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have devastated all the countries and their lands, 19and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. So they have destroyed them. 20Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, Lord, are God.” –Isaiah 37:16-20 I forget to pray like this: praise, praise, praise,...

Accountability Fear

It seems we’re afraid of change. We spend the first 5-21 years of our life craving change and then BAM!! we become adults and all of a sudden, we stop welcoming the uncertainty and uncomfortable feeling that comes along with change. This morning I was meeting with a leader at the More Life Center–a center at our church that is designed to help people change their lives. We are planning an expansion of our facility and our programming to facilitate change. We have a program called the More Life Plan where an individual will meet with a Life Champion on a regular business to take a realistic look of their current life, an inventory of their dreams and begin to connect the two. And the cost? ZERO! Nada! Nothing! I think we would find more participants if...

Digital Heroin

I’m struggling as a parent right now. Our goal is to limit screen time for the 9 year old and up to 2 hours per day and we have tools in place for that. But…about 9 months ago, the 16 (now 17) year old went out and bought a 3DS XL without our consent. After 5 warnings (I know, I shouldn’t give that many warnings) I asked for the device yesterday to which he refused as he has done probably 3-5 times in the last few months. Today after school he ran away for a couple of hours to “Some where, where I can play video games with out you clawing at my neck.” It is not coincidence that this video came across my desk today: Here’s the associated article. Read at your own risk. It is changing my thinking today. Digital...

How to get Noticed

I was listening to a podcast or webinar recently with the Podcast Answerman, Cliff Ravenscraft. He is just a genius in helping people get going with podcasts. He gets results and gives folks what they need to get started…and it’s even free. I have heard him a few times in the past but this time having a few blogs myself, I noticed something. I’m swimming in a pool of 450,000,000 blogs. Yes, 450 million blogs. Do you know how many podcasts are out there? There’s only 325,000! That is a pool that is only 0.07% the size of the blog pool. I’m not taking action today but it is something to consider. If your blog leads to sales, memberships, or subscriptions OR even if it leads people to some good information. It might be time to consider...

My Mission Statement

Found this version of my mission statement taped in one of my shelves today:

I don’t know where I heard it but I wrote it down on a sticky note on my desk. It is a quote from Michelangelo and it means “I am still learning”. That is the basis of my life. I always say that a day where I don’t learn something is a day wasted. So what are you doing today? How will it help you learn something? What can you use it for? What are some of your favorite quotes? I’d love to have them as I’m kind of a quote collector.
